Garden of Armina
The Garden of Armina series presents the multifaceted nature of womanhood. Nude figures with obscured faces anonymously represent a diverse range of female archetypes, including mothers, daughters, wives, and individuals. Twitter symbols appear amoungst the scenery, symbolizing the profound power of communication and the intimate whispers shared among women. These motifs serve as reminders of the collective strength that emerges from shared experiences and connections. Özok integrates mossaic designs and floral scarves, adorned with delicate hanging beads, motifs that inspired her during her time in Spain.

Time
Asli Özok's Time series explores into our collective fascination with and complex relationship to the concept of time. Through her paintings, she explores the intangible nature of time, highlighting how our perception of it evolves as we age. From the languid pace of our youth, where time seems infinite, to the rapid passage as we grow older, Özok captures the fleeting nature of our existence. While scientific, cultural, and sociological theories attempt to grasp time's essence, it remains an abstract construct. Özok delves into its conceptual and almost spiritual pervasiveness by employing the recurring symbol of the watch.

Democracy
Asli Özok's painting series Democracy reacts to the global catastrophes and wars. Through these artworks, Özok conveys the ideals of freedom and justice within the turbulent context of tanks and conflict. The series features the portrayal of an anonymous woman, symbolizing society as a whole. This vulnerable presentation highlights the complete transparency of the woman, in stark contrast to the tanks that rely on their protective metal shells. In a satirical twist, Özok embellishes the tanks with Swarovski beads, commenting on the glamorization of war and violence. -

Silencio
The series "Silencio" is inspired by Asli Ozok's profound experiences working with a foundation in Spain dedicated to those afflicted by a paralysing brain disease that robs them of speech. Titled "Silencio" to encapsulate the theme of unspoken voices, each portrait serves as a gateway into the lives of these individuals, revealing their resilience and determination. Using colour and light to convey the depth of their personalities, the portraits are an ode to the power of communication beyond language. -
Iconos
"Iconos" explores the representation of women and the transformation of female figures throughout art history. During the time of her "Hagia Sophia" exhibition in Spain, Özok observed the prominence and influence of women, often associated with the image of the Virgin Mary. Intrigued by the historical significance of the Virgin Mary as the first female figure in art, "Iconos" integrates themes from "Barcode" and "Hagia Sophia." focusing on the metamorphosis of the Virgin Mary into a contemporary woman, while also exploring the impact of consumer brands on shaping individual identities. -
Hagia Sofia
Merging historical heritage with contemporary reflections, "Hagia Sofia" draws on Özok's training in frescoes and mosaics during doctoral studies, where she contributed to the Italian restoration project and authored a book on the iconic Hagia Sophia mosaics. Upon visiting New York City Özok came to realise that brands were our modern icons. the series merges the past and present into a parallel reality. -
Fish Flocks
Asli Özok's Fish Flocks series, part of the larger body of work entitled Barcode, explores the globalized nature of symbols in our modern society, particularly focusing on the pervasive influence of consumerism and various brands worldwide. Within the context of these paintings, the shoal of fish symbolically represents humanity, portraying our collective existence as a swimming mass, lacking unity or coordinated formation. As a flock, we exhibit impulsive behavior, influenced by the brands that bestow upon us new identities and badges to display to others. -
Barcode
The motif of the barcode is repeated throughout Özoks practice. , Özok has been fascinated by optical art, and while stood over a sink washing her brushes, she noticed a barcode label stuck to the faucet. this encounter sparked a reveletion, The barcode, a prevalent symbol of modern times, serves as a representation of contemporary concepts like identity, belonging, and consumption.
